Children are our greatest and most precious assets. We must take an active part in insuring the successes of our children. Their academic success is very important but their physical success is even more important. A healthy child is a child on their way to becoming a well-rounded citizen of our society. The physical health of a child should include physical activities daily. The best motivator in getting children involved with physical activity is to make the activities fun for them. When children are among their peers, there are several physical activities they can engage in that are fun and healthy to prevent and to stop the spread of childhood obesity. 1. Jump Rope - There are so many charities around today that require children to jump rope. One that comes to my mind is "Jump Rope for Heart." This is a fun activity for children and a great charity to be involved in. Talk to your children about jumping rope for your favorite charity. Tell them they can practice for their feat by jumping rope daily. 2. Running - Your children can have fun with running. They can race their friends or race each other. Talk to your children about running and tell them that they could be a contender for a Track Team. There is so much a child could do if they run. If they are taught to run correctly, they could have a real chance at running in the Olympics. 3. Hopscotch - This game gets children into jumping, hopping, bending and throwing. A form of cardiovascular exercise, this game gets the heart pumping at a faster rate and increases the metabolism. 4. - This game gets children into exercise that is fun for them. They have repetitions of kicking and running. Children find playing with a ball so much fun. Why not use this form of fun for your children as a means of exercise? Children can find fun in almost every activity they do. Why not put together some games that implement good physical exercise for children? As long as the focus and emphasis is on fun, children will participate. Along with a vigorous, robust, fun physical activity regime, implement a good healthy meal plan. Children's appetites will heighten with all of the physical activity, so why not use this as a means of getting children to eat more healthily? Nutrition and physical activity are the keys to a well-rounded child helping them to defeat obesity. Remember, before starting any plan of attack to fight child obesity, you should get assistance from a professional. Make sure your child does not have any other health issues impeding their success to a more healthy future.
