Tanzanian Safari Parks

One of the most impressive types of holidays you can take in the world is an African safari. And where else is better to go on such a vacation than the ultimate safari destination of Tanzania?!

In Tanzania you can find the greatest National Parks in the world, here are just a handful of them, and what you can expect to see in each.

Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area

Known famously for sightings of rhino - which are usually very rare to see in most other parks, the Ngorongoro Crater is spread over an area of around 8,288 km², and features 2,000 foot high walls which act as a protection for the wildlife inside. The Ngorongoro Crater is also a fantastic place to spot large prides of lions, which roam the park in search of a meal daily.

Selous Game Reserve

The massive reserve of Selous stretches over a staggering 44,800 km², this is larger than the land mass of the country of Switzerland. There are lots of fascinating animals to observe in this park, as it is not only large, but also dense in flora and fauna. One of the animals which people are most amazed by in Selous is the African wild dog, as this park has over 1/3 of the world's population of this endangered canine in its inhabitants.

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is the ultimate park to safari within! There are many different eco-systems within this park, so this in turn means a wide variety of animals can be spotted depending on which region you are in. One of the more popular animals in the Serengeti is surprisingly the wildebeest - as over 1.5 million of these creatures make their annual migration to neighbouring Masai Mara territory ever year.

Mikumi National Park

Often overlooked when compared with other parks, Mikumi is in great location for those journeying from Dar Es Salaam. The 'Big Five', which are rhino, elephant, cape buffalo, leopard and lion can all be spotted within the park, and many of the lions here are said to take part in the unusually behaviour of climbing trees.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire is famed for having both large trees in the form of Baobab's, and large animals in elephants - which live in large populations of over 1,500 within the parks boundaries. You may also get the pleasure to see flocks of vultures roaming the park, looking for the remains of a kill.
